Pic Of The Week (22/2012) – High-Tech Fighter Pilot Helmet

I took this shot on the exhibition stand of EADS Cassidian, the producer of the Eurofighter Typhoon.

High-tech helmet used by the Eurofighter Typhoon pilots.

The helmet sports an integrated head-up display and is also used to aim the various weapons like air-to-air missiles (meaning that the missile is directed to whatever the pilot looks at). Impressive as it is from the technological view, I liked the Star Wars look even better: “Draw your light sabre…”

Whatever I tried, I ended up as a reflection in the helmet visor. First I wanted to get rid of myself in Photoshop, but then I thought what the heck. A bit of  a personal touch can’t hurt, right?
