Life Extension For Bulgaria’s Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant – Images Available

I am available for coverage from Kozloduy NPP and the construction site of the abandoned Belene Nuclear Power Plant. I also have several images on file from a shooting at Kozloduy last year inside Unit 5 as well as outside the power plant.

After scrapping plans to finish building the new nuclear power plant in Belene, the Bulgarian government announced that operation of the two existing reactor units in Kozloduy NPP will be extended by 20 years.

Units 5 and 6 in Kozloduy were to be decommissioned 2017 and 2019 respectively, but now a consortium of Russia’s Rosatom and France’s EDF will modernize the two Russian VVER-1000 pressurized water reactors, so they can be kept running until 2037 (unit 5) and 2039 (unit 6).
