Fujifilm Germany has published the price for the much-discussed pro-level viewfinder camera X-Pro1 and its accessories.

After the acclaimed Fujifilm X100 lots of photographers (including me) were waiting for something in the same league, only with interchangeable lenses. Sort of a Leica M9 for photographers with a bit of a tighter budget (the undeniably fantastic M9 – body only of course – goes for a whopping € 5,495.-/£  4,570.-/$ 7,233.-).

Finally, our prayers were answered and last December the X-Pro1 was announced. The new camera, three lenses and some accessories will be available from mid-March. The suggested retail prices are:

Body X-Pro1

€ 1,599.-

£ 1,330.-

$ 2,103.-

Lens XF35mm F1.4 R

€    579.-

£    481.-

$    762.-

Lens XF60mm F2.4 R Macro

€    629.-

£    523.-

$    828.-

Flash EF-X20

€    199.-

£    165.-

$    262.-

Leather Camera Bag

€    149.-

£    124.-

$    196.-

Protection Filter 39mm

€      69.-

£      57.-

$      91.-

Protection Filter 52mm

€      79.-

£      66.-

$    104.-

(please bear in mind that Dollars and Pound are simply converted from the price announced for Germany; prices in the UK and U.S. are likely to vary slightly due to differences in VAT)

The street prices should be lower than that, as we all know, but I would not count on a 15% drop like when the Canon EOS 5D MkII came out. I suspect that there will be simply too much demand for X-Pro1 for that to happen. My guess is that we will end up buying this baby for about € 1,450 (£ 1,200/$ 1,900) or so.
