Getting the permission to shoot in a Turkish railway station was no small feat but thanks to the persistence of my wife Mariela the authorities saw there was no other way to be left in peace and finally gave way. Taking photographs in any railway station in Turkey would otherwise land a journalist in serious trouble, we got checked up twice during our shooting in Sirkeci Station.
The day could have been better because it was raining cats and dogs and the colors were dull and drab to say the least. But at some point I thought I am here now anyway, might as well make the best of it. After taking some shots of passengers getting off various trains, I propped up my tripod on the far end of a platform where a train was bound to leave. I set the shutter speed so I would get a blur of the accelerating train and squeezed the cable release for about 15 shots.
To avoid any issues with the auto focus I switched to manual and used f/8 for optimum image quality and sufficient depth of field.
